The “world’s largest ritualistic shadow puppetry festival” known as Tholpavakoothu starts its annual temple-based performances in Kerala around the month of Dhanu/Makaram to Edavam
(Januvary To May/June), typically running for a period of 7 to 72 days depending on the temple tradition. Some events for the 2024-2025 festival may have already begun. The performance usually starts at 10 PM and goes until 5:30 AM.
